About the practice

About Canopus

Canopus is a boutique commercial aviation advisory practice built around clear thinking, commercially grounded judgment, and focused support for aviation ventures, airlines, and other commercial air transport businesses facing important decisions.

Why we exist

Why Canopus exists

Canopus was created to support aviation ventures, airlines, and commercial air transport businesses that need more than generic consulting language and less than the overhead of a large advisory firm.

The practice is designed for mandates where clarity, structure, and commercial realism matter. We work with clients who are facing real decisions — and who need an advisory partner that understands the commercial logic of the aviation industry and can help structure the path forward.

Leadership

The people behind Canopus

Ozgun Papan Kasik

Principal — Commercial Aviation Advisory

Canopus is led by Ozgun Papan Kasik, drawing on airline-side commercial experience in international relations, agreements, partnership development, negotiation, and strategic coordination. This experience informs every engagement — providing clients with a perspective grounded in how airlines actually evaluate partnerships, structure commercial relationships, and make strategic decisions. Ozgun brings direct commercial aviation advisory experience to each mandate, with Canopus strengthened by expert-backed specialist support where needed.

Samet Kasik

Strategy, Research & Growth Support

Samet Kasik supports the Canopus practice on strategy, research, structuring, and growth-oriented advisory support. His contribution spans analytical rigour, structured thinking, and the research and synthesis work that helps clients understand what the evidence says — and what it means for their decisions.

Extended capacity

Senior specialist network

Depending on the needs of a mandate, Canopus may also draw on a trusted network of senior aviation specialists across multiple functions. This allows the practice to remain focused and boutique while bringing in the right additional perspective when required — ensuring clients receive specialist input without the overhead of a full-scale firm.

Our approach

How we think

Canopus believes strong advisory work should meet a clear standard: commercially grounded, well-structured, and focused on the actual decisions in front of the client — not on producing outputs for their own sake.

  • Commercially grounded
  • Well structured
  • Decision-focused
  • Clear about assumptions and limitations
  • Tailored to the actual questions in front of the client
